The year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex's life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.
MGM went with two unknowns for the Robocop remake - director and star - in this very long delayed remake.
Unknown to U.S. movie audiences, Joel Kinnaman steps into the new Robocop suit. Joel Kinnaman was born in 1979 and is well known in his native Stockholm, Sweden. He can be seen on AMC television series The Killing, as character Stephen Holder.
Director Jose Padhila is best known for two critically acclaimed Brazillian movies, Elite Squad (2007) and its sequel, Elite Squad: Enemy Within (2010).
Joel Kinneman also stars in Easy Money 2.
If you're really wild about movies you know that Joel Kinnaman had small roles in the 2012 movie Safe House and in the U.S. version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, (the character Christer Malm).
