Emperor (2013)

In Movie Theaters March 8, 2013

Tommy Lee Jones's follow up to his potential Oscar winning Lincoln.
A gripping tale of love and honor forged between fierce enemies of war, the movie Emperor tells the story, inspired by true events, of the bold and secret moves that won the peace in the shadows of post-war Japan. Starring Academy Award-winner Tommy Lee Jones, Matthew Fox, and newcomer Eriko Hatsune, Emperor brings to life the American occupation of Japan in the perilous and unpredictable days just after Emperor Hirohito's World War II surrender. As General Douglas MacArthur (Tommy Lee Jones) suddenly finds himself the de facto ruler of a foreign nation, he assigns an expert in Japanese culture - General Bonner Fellers (Matthew Fox), to covertly investigate the looming question hanging over the country: should the Japanese Emperor, worshiped by his people but accused of war crimes, be punished or saved?
Poor Matthew Fox. He keeps plugging along. And studios keep hiring him even though he is untalented and has about as much charisma as a dead tadpole. This, Emperor, should be the final nail in his acting coffin, as it is going to be a huge box office bomb.
Tommy Lee Jones couldn't care less that Emperor will bomb. He continues to collect Oscar nominations, stars in AIG television commercials and can brag that he was the college roommate of Al Gore, all while in the throes of old age.
